Nicosia, Cyprus – A German business delegation is currently visiting Cyprus to explore new partnerships in crucial areas of the energy sector, including energy storage, smart grids, and electric mobility. The initiative aims to bolster cooperation between the two nations and address Cyprus’s evolving energy challenges.

Organised by the Employers and Industrialists Federation (Oev) in collaboration with the German-Hellenic Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the visit involves dozens of targeted business-to-business (B2B) meetings between German companies and Cypriot enterprises and organisations. These meetings commenced on October 13 and are scheduled to conclude on October 16, 2026, at Oev’s offices. Discussions are centered on energy management, electricity infrastructure, and avenues for commercial collaboration.

A significant component of the visit included a roundtable discussion hosted by Oev, bringing together representatives from the German delegation and key stakeholders within Cyprus’s energy sector. Attendees comprised representatives from the distribution system operator, various business and scientific organisations, universities, and Oev itself.

The dialogue focused on the specific technologies, infrastructure, and expertise that Cyprus will require in the coming years. This is particularly pertinent as the island nation strives to enhance the performance of its electricity system and integrate a larger share of renewable energy sources. Emphasised topics included advanced energy storage solutions, the more efficient integration of renewables into the national grid, and the expansion of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.

Furthermore, participants explored opportunities for sharing technical expertise and fostering partnerships between Cypriot and German businesses in sectors vital for Cyprus’s ongoing energy transition.

According to Oev, this initiative aligns with its broader strategy to tackle energy-related issues, strengthen the international footprint of Cypriot businesses, and facilitate the transfer of technological know-how. The federation also underscored the importance of cultivating international business partnerships in sectors that can significantly boost the competitiveness of the Cypriot economy.

The business mission specifically targets areas such as photovoltaics, integrated energy solutions, and power inverters, as highlighted in Oev’s announcement.

The German-Hellenic Chamber confirmed that five German companies are participating in this mission, which is being organised on behalf of Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. The programme is designed to connect German technology providers with potential Cypriot customers, investors, project developers, and business partners, paving the way for prospective joint projects and commercial agreements.
